Freiberg

 

Freiberger is located in Freiberg, Germany, a city with a mining tradition going back over 800 years. Freiberg with its famous silver mines was a commercial centre during the Middle Ages. Today, many buildings are preserved which date back to this time. The city's mining tradition continues with the world's oldest active mining university, the Bergakademie of Freiberg, which was founded in the mid 1700s.

Freiberg today is home to many high-tech companies operating in the field of compound semiconductors, pure silicon and solar silicon.
